My name is Xela Yesenia, I’m a 35 year old woman from Monterey Bay, CA, relocated in the Central Valley of CA. I am a newly NAMI trained Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist. I have first hand lived experience with a list of mental health challenges such as ADHD, OCD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and anger management. I also can provide support from my lived experience for domestic violence, foster care, juvenile justice, homelessness, sexual assault survival, substance abuse, ABA, much more.

What can members expect to take away from sessions with you?

You can expect to meeting an open minded and unbiased peer that will never pass any judgment and strives to create a safe trustworthy space to speak freely and have the ability to expect nothing less than support and positive encouragement while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.

Explain to members what areas you feel are your biggest strengths?

My greatest strengths as a peer support specialist would have to be my active listening skills and the great amount of empathy I have for each and every individual I’m given the great opportunity to meet and learn about. I hold myself as an equal rather than your superior and stand side by side as you find your voice, practice self advocacy, and find your path to wherever you may desire your life’s journey to lead to.
